The rustic Bronze beading of this elegant necklace enhances the exceptional natural light apple and blue-green translucence and “boulder-brown” rocky colorations of Australian Boulder Chrysoprase. This classic necklace can be worn with jeans as well as a business suit. Chrysoprase is sometimes referred to as “Australian Jade.” Although Jade is a much softer stone and typically less translucent than Chrysoprase. The Bronze beads and clasp Miriam selected add a lovely antique expression to this one-of-a-kind necklace. As it ages, bronze develops a beautiful patina that enhances the individual character of each piece. Miriam used Old World Bronze™ beads that are handcrafted using an old-world wax method, and an exclusive bronze recipe developed by the Charveaux family of metalsmiths in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Fun facts about Chrysoprase: In ancient times Chrysoprase was referred to as “the stone of Venus,”and was often used by the Greeks, Romans, and Egyptians to make seals, signets, jewelry and other ornamental objects. It was also a favorite stone of Alexander the Great, who attributed his success in battles to the Chrysoprase beaded girdle he wore.
- Full length of the necklace is 19 inches, including the Bronze clasp.
- The Natural Chrysoprase stones are cut into rondelles, and graduated – ranging from 11x6mm in the center to 7x4mm towards the ends.
- The lighter apple-green rough-heishe accent stones vary in shape, and are also beautifully translucent. They measure approximately 12x5mm.
- The six abstract Bronze discs at the focal area of the necklace are 10x2mm.
- The two “triple-disc” handwrought Bronze accent beads have a unique design: Two round discs with a square bead soldered into the center, each measuring 11x9mm.
- The clasp is also handwrought Bronze.
- The necklace is strung on a strong but flexible 0.019, 49-strand stainless steel wire that is nylon coated.
