Miriam created a sophisticated, modern design using natural Yellow Calcite, Citrine, Bronze and Brass. Softly faceted, each stone is smooth to the touch and shows the lustrous, pearly opaque and translucent features of Calcite. This work of Wearable Art is sure to get plenty of compliments. The handwrought Old World Bronze(TM)“Flower” bead chosen by Miriam as the focal point is intricate and generously sculpted—with a beautiful patina that glows in the sunlight.
  • Necklace length is 20 inches, including the Old World Bronze(TM) clasp.
  • Ten Yellow Calcite stones are 22mm x 42mm.
  • Ten Citrine rondelles are 8mm x 4mm.
  • Round flat accent beads are 6mm solid Brass (not brass-coated metal).
  • The square Bronze “Flower” focal bead is hollow and 8mm x 20mm.
The name “Calcite” is derived from the German Calcite, a term coined in the 19th century from the Latin word for lime, calx (genitive calcis) with the suffix -ite used to name minerals. It  is a carbonate mineral ranging from white to naturally occurring shades of gray, red, orange, yellow, green, blue violet, brown, and sometimes black. It may be transparent and crystalline, translucent or opaque. In its purest form, Calcite crystals are completely colorless and transparent. Click here for more information on the Nature of Calcite.
Caring for Calcite. Calcite gemstones require great care and gentleness when it comes to cleaning. Avoid harsh cleaning agents, including bleach and acid, and do not use ultrasonic cleaners or steamers. Use only a soft cloth and a mild soap, if needed. Store in a soft jewelry pouch, or wrapped in a soft cloth.
Old World Bronze(TM)  Beads are handwrought using an ancient method of casting bronze that was modernized by the Charveaux family of metalsmiths in Scottsdale, Arizona.
