Kambaba Jasper
Kambaba Jasper is an exotic and beautiful green and black sedimentary (grainy) stone comprised of microcrystalline Quartz interlaced with Stromatolites in a beautiful orbicular (circular) natural pattern. Stromatolites date back more than three billion years - and are the oldest of the ancient fossilized colonies of prehistoric blue-green algae. It is sometimes called Crocodile Jasper because of its deep green color and deep brown or black oval rings that look like crocodile skin. Other names for this unique and decorative stone are Kabamba or Kambaby Jasper. It is also referred to as Kambaba Jade, but it is not Jade. Once the dominant life form on the planet, Stromatolites are now found in only a few places, such as Madagascar. The nature of Kambaba Jasper, and whether it’s orbicular patterns are actually Stromolite structures, is still being debated.
