The natural Deep Greens, Blue-Greens, and Terra cotta colorations of this Opaque Green Opal necklace are enhanced by a round Pendant, wire-wrapped in Bronze with Miriam’s Signature Swirls. The stones Miriam selected for this necklace are highly polished but retain their rustic beauty. In the sunlight, you can see hints of almost-iridescent golden and reddish brown. Some of the stones also show small areas of translucency. Accent beads are handwrought Antique Bronze designed in a flower shape and forged by Anna Chernykh of ANNA Bronze. Anna lives and works in Kungur, a small town in the Ural Mountain area of Russia. She also uses an old wax casting method. The Bronze Clasp is from Old World Bronze(TM), designed and handwrought by the Charveaux family of metalsmiths in Scottsdale, Arizona. All the Bronze beads Miriam uses are solid bronze—not bronze plated.
The Greens and Blue-Green colors that splash through these unusual Australian Green Opaque Opals, contrast sharply with the varying shades of brown and terra cotta that form a mosaic throughout each stone. But don’t let the “Opal” name of this stone fool you! Green Opaque Opals are called “Common Opals”— they are opaque and rarely translucent like the “Precious Opals” that have fiery plays-of-color and rainbow hues.
- The necklace is 20 inches long including the clasp.
- The round puffed Pendant stone is 29mm in diameter and 8mm thick.
- The round necklace stones are 10mm.
- Accent Bronze “Flowers” are 6mm.
- Small African hand-rolled brass beads surround each Bronze Flower.
- Matching Earrings and Bracelet are available by special order.
