Crazy Lace Agate Pendant is Striking on this Picasso and Zebra Jasper Necklace (BLK-008)
Miriam combined a stunning round Gray Crazy Lace Agate, with square and oblong Gray Zebra and Picasso Jaspers to create this distinctive necklace. The smaller Gray Jasper and Sterling Silver accents add a stylish touch to this elegant piece. The Sterling Silver S-shaped Clasp continues the design with its round, flat beaded design. The lovely Gray Crazy Lace Agate centerpiece stone chosen by Miriam offers waves and swirls of a monochromatic palette with accents of black and white winding through the various shades of gray bands and swirls. Like all Agates, there are translucent and opaque areas. And like most of the stones selected by Miriam, this distinctive centerpiece stone is reversible. Crazy Lace Agate is patterned by nature with beautiful, multicolored swirls—showing dramatic twisting and turning bands of color. The natural hues of these semiprecious gemstone beads are found in yellow and gray, sometimes with shades of pink, tan, orange or red, all intermingling in swirling waves of color. Regardless of its coloration, each crazy lace agate bead displays a unique pattern, and no two stones are alike!
- Full length of the necklace is 21 inches, including the sterling silver clasp.
- The round centerpiece Gray Crazy Lace Agate is 1.625 inches in diameter and 0.625 inches deep at its center.
- The square Picasso Jaspers are one inch wide and 0.25 inches thick at the center.
- The oblong Zebra Jaspers are 1.5 inches long and 0.625 inches thick.
- The necklace is strung on a flexible but strong, stainless steel, nylon-coated beading wire.
Zebra and Picasso Jaspers are opaque stones with natural dark, jagged stripes of black or brown on backgrounds of white, gray, or tan. Some of the square stones Miriam chose have a subtle splash of sandy beige twisting through the grey background, which provides a rich texture to the beads. Miriam is quite sure the square stones are Picasso Jasper, but thinks the oblong stones are actually Zebra Jasper. Can you tell the difference between Zebra and Picasso Jaspers? They are very similar, and often confused. The difference is that the Black Streaks on Picasso Jaspers tend to be very random--as they are on the square stones show here. Zebra Jasper Stripes are a thicker and have a grainy appearance, and seem to wrap around the stones in a more circular pattern--just like they do on zebras, and on the oblong stones in this necklace! Like the round Crazy Lace Agate Pendant, each stone also is reversible. Whether the stones are Picasso or Zebra Jasper, every stone in this necklace is a stunning work of art created by nature, and carefully placed by Miriam to create a striking and wearable art treasure.
