This Polychrome Madagascar Desert Jasper Necklace for men and women is composed of an intriguing newer natural gemstone. Polychrome Madagascar Desert Jasper is believed to be one of the rarest stones on the planet, distinguished by its vibrant earthy and natural multiple-colors—usually in circular, eye-shaped or landscape-like spheres of beautiful gray-greens, reds, tans and browns, and sometimes in purples and pinks. Teal-Blue Polychrome Desert Jasper is even more rare—and stones of this lovely color are included in Miriam’s necklace! Photos show a variety of views of each stone. Polychrome Desert Jasper was discovered in 2006 and is mined only in small deposits in the Northern Coast of Madagascar, the same area as the currently mined-out Ocean Jasper. This necklace is just one more example of Miriam’s one-of-a-kind creations that epitomize the fashion expression “wearable art.”
The Old World Bronze™ Clasp and Connectors are handwrought using ancient methods of casting bronze that have been modernized by the Charveaux family of metalsmiths in Scottsdale, Arizona. Utilizing their carefully developed bronze formula, and the age-old “lost wax” method, each bronze bead is artistically designed and handcrafted.
The Bronze and Brass Beads in this necklace were designed and handcrafted by Anna Chernykh using an old wax method. Anna’s bronze and brass are solid, not plated. There is no cadmium, lead or nickel. She lives and works in Kungur, a small town in the Ural Mountain area of Russia. As it ages, the rich patina of bronze is often thought to be more beautiful than gold.
- Full length of the necklace is approximately 19.5 inches, including the handwrought, textured bronze clasp and matching looped findings.
- Round stones are 10mm.
- The faceted rondelles are 8mm.
- The larger Round Beaded Bronze spacers are 10mm and handwrought.
- The smaller Scalloped Brass spacers are 8mm, and also handwrought.
- The Clasp and connectors are Old World Bronze™.
- The necklace is strung on a strong but flexible antique bronze 0.019, 49-strand stainless steel wire that is nylon coated.
