- About Azurite-Malachite: A combination of two distinct and well-known gemstones, Azurite-Malachite (also known as Azurmalachite) occurs when these two stones intergrow, while maintaining their distinct edges and characteristic colors: The deep and rich blues of Azurite and the bright green shades of Malachite. Other times the natural stones seem to blend together, showing a soft range of hues, from bright to subtle - but always showing areas of bright blue and green. The name Azurite is taken from the Persian word lazhward, which means "blue." Malachite is from the Greek word molochitis, which means “mallow plant.” A blend of azurite, malachite, turquoise and chrysocolla, called "Eilat stone," is named after the Middle Eastern city of Eilat, where it was once mined. Eilat stone, also known as King Solomon's stone, is the national stone of Israel.
- Natural Azurite is porous and delicate and often difficult to cut. It should be cleaned only with a soft cloth – no chemicals, hot water nor ultrasonic cleaning. Even the soft bristles of a toothbrush may scratch the stones.
- The stones Miriam used are gently polished andclear-coated to maintain their integrity.
